Dental Implants

Permanent solutions, built to last.

Missing teeth affect more than your appearance. They change how you eat, how you speak, and how your remaining teeth shift over time. Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth: they look, feel, and function like your natural teeth. At Smiles by Dr. C, Dr. Seemalaxmi Chawan handles implant planning and restoration with the same precision and advanced techniques she practiced in the US for over a decade.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into your jawbone. It acts as an artificial root. Once the implant integrates with the bone (a process called osseointegration), a custom crown is placed on top. The result is a permanent, stable tooth that blends naturally with the rest of your smile.

Types of implant treatments

Single Tooth Implant

Replace one missing tooth without affecting the adjacent teeth. A single implant with a custom crown is the most conservative and effective solution.

Multiple Tooth Implants

Replace several missing teeth with implant-supported bridges. Fewer implants needed compared to replacing each tooth individually.

Full Arch Replacement (All-on-4 / All-on-6)

Replace an entire arch of teeth with just 4 to 6 implants. A fixed, permanent solution for patients who are missing all their teeth or have severely damaged teeth. No more removable dentures.

Implant-Supported Dentures

For patients who want more stability than traditional full dentures with palatal coverage that may affect taste, implant-supported overdentures are a comfortable solution. They anchor securely onto implants, eliminating slipping and discomfort, while still being easy to remove and clean for better oral hygiene and long-lasting durability.

Our approach to implants

1. Consultation and Evaluation

We examine your teeth, take an in-office CBCT scan for a detailed 3D view of your jawbone, and assess whether you are a suitable candidate for dental implants, so you do not have to travel anywhere for the scan.

2. Treatment Planning

Using the scan data in advanced software (Sidexis 4.4, Sicat, and Zelis Software), we plan the exact placement of each implant for optimal position, angle, stability, and function. Our implants are restoratively driven for optimum function and hygiene.

3. Implant Placement

The implant is placed surgically under local anesthesia. The procedure is typically comfortable and takes 30 to 60 minutes per implant.

4. Healing Period

The implant integrates with your bone over 3 to 6 months. During this time, you may wear a temporary restoration.

5. Final Restoration

Once healed, we place your permanent custom crown, bridge, or full arch restoration.

Frequently asked questions

Most adults with good general health are candidates. We evaluate your bone density, gum health, and overall medical history during the consultation. If bone loss is present, bone grafting may be recommended before implant placement.

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacement after 15 to 20 years, but the implant itself is designed to be permanent.

The procedure is done under local anesthesia. Most patients report that it is less uncomfortable than a tooth extraction. Post-operative discomfort is manageable with over-the-counter pain medication.

From initial consultation to final restoration, the process typically takes 3 to 6 months. This includes the healing period after implant placement.

Dental implants replace missing teeth without affecting the healthy teeth next to them, unlike traditional bridges which often require support from neighboring teeth. Implants function like natural teeth, feel comfortable, and are easier to clean and maintain. They also help preserve the jawbone and provide a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth.

We understand that some patients may feel nervous about dental treatment. We will make every effort to help you feel relaxed and comfortable during your visit. Please share your concerns with us so we can provide a calm and stress-free experience at your pace.

Cost depends on the number of implants, type of restoration, and whether any additional procedures (like bone grafting) are needed. We provide a detailed breakdown during your consultation. No surprises.
